DEPUTY EXTERNAL AFFAIRS MANAGER
An exciting opportunity exists in the External Affairs area reporting to the External Affairs Manager. You will work in a team focusing on managing the Government relations as well as the CCoW Administration in line with the external relation strategies, external relation management plan and supporting policies and procedures. Obtaining all permits to operate, submitting statutory reports, providing formal and informal communications with the elected and appointed officials and their respective department heads, receiving their feed back. The position will be Balikpapan based with occasionally be on sites with the following roles & responsibilities:
• Develop a strong link with the Project Managers, Community Relations Manager and HSE & Security Manager to ensure that a unified approach is always demonstrated by our actions to our external stakeholders.
• Develop a regular communications strategy built on ensuring the right people know the right things, the implementation of this strategy extends beyond the normal work environment but in line with our Code of Business Conduct.
• Be conversant with all permits that are required to operate the approval processes and the applications processes in the Indonesian mining Industry.
• Deliver presentation to the Government at all levels as required.
• Monitor opinions, views and progress of our major contractors, suppliers and consultants in respect of their dealing with the government and communities.
• Develop an understanding of the NGOs both national and local who will impact on Maruwai, where appropriate attempt to engage them with relevant, accurate and factual information in close coordination with the Community Relation Manager.
To qualify, the minimum requirements are:
• At least 10 years post-graduate experience in varied positions that may include operations, community relations, government relations or the environment.
• Proven experience in operating at a senior level in Indonesia in support roles dealing primarily with external stakeholders.
• A strong cultural understanding of Indonesia.
• Ability to work independently and to make decision under pressure.
• Proactive, Innovative and continues improvement.
• Strong English and Bahasa Indonesia literate.
• Have good knowledge of field safety management, interpersonal skills, leadership and team building.
