We are leading PMA / International company which has been well established in South East Asia and Pacific regions, is now looking to recruit a high caliber person for the following position:

SENIOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Education:
• S1 or Bachelor Degree in Engineering, overseas degree is an advantage
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree is an advantage

Experience :
1. 8 years minimum experience preferably with mining/construction/services companies
2. Foreign work and study experience is an advantage
3. Must be proficient in excel, power point and report preparation and presentation
4. Excellent business analysis skills, strong financial modeling skills
5. Excellent English skills - spoken, written and presentation

Other requirements :
1. Preferable to have worked with a world class International Corporation
2. Undergraduate degree in Engineering preferred (but not essential)
3. May require local and overseas travel from time to time
4. Ability to develop clear concise and accurate report summaries
5. Requires the ability to coordinate own efforts such that they meet business deadlines

Role responsibilities :
1. Managing the tendering / estimating, marketing and business development function of the company
2. Identify opportunities for growing business within existing client base by maintaining up to date knowledge of relevant markets via gathering and analyzing information from the following sources: clients, competitors, partner contractors/sub-contractors, consultants & suppliers.
3. Source opportunities for new business through establishing and developing relationships with new clients in existing markets, new industry contacts and potential clients in new markets via sales calls, face to face visits, presentations and lobbying.
4. Assess fit of opportunities identified against company strategy, business and operation requirements, expertise and future market growth potential and make recommendation as to size and viability of opportunity.
5. Liaise with President Director, Commercial Manager and Section Managers to identify opportunities for company to increase scope of work of existing business by assessing how company can do things better, the changes required to do this and whether such change/investment/development is viable and sustainable for company.
6. Prepare monthly Business Development Report detailing: project development opportunities, top ten projects, major prequalifications and major tenders and present overview at monthly management meeting.
7. Develop new contracting strategies (eg. alliancing, joint venturing, EPC) by investigating competitor and market practices, determining most advantageous to company and marketing/selling new contracting concepts to clients.
8. Formulate expenditure budget for Business Development by reviewing previous years targets and budget, targets and strategy for the coming year and submit (with justification for any changes) to President Director for approval.
9. Liaise with Section and Project Managers to ensure establishment and maintenance of open, two way communication channels with key clients/clients with potential for new projects.
10. Ensure company is best positioned to meet the needs of the client and that the proposal is as cost effective as possible by evaluating projects against the following criteria: type of project, company’s capability to undertake the project, need for a partner - technology or political, understanding of what the client wants & clients preferences for engineering houses.
11. Liaise with President Director and/or Commercial Manager to agree upon tender strategy and select partner.
12. Determine and specify operation and structure of relationship with any partners (main contractor, sub contractor) with the aim of establishing and confirming a risk/reward sharing approach to undertaking the project.
13. Sell strategy to the client via formal and informal presentations/meetings highlighting advantages and benefits of strategy in terms of cost, quality of job etc.
14. Draft any agreements required to execute tender and submit to Commercial Manager for input and approval.
15. Ensure that effective lines of communication are maintained with the client and any partners both during tender preparation and post tender submission.
16. Conduct post tender evaluation.
17. Access and analyze information from the following sources of information to predict trends in relevant markets and maintain an up to date understanding of market dynamics and government thinking: newspapers, oil and gas publications, mining publications, economic reports, memberships to professional bodies, industry based reports, client strategies & conferences.
18. Ensure market dynamics and politics feed into company’s business strategy development/review process and guide decisions for expansion, consolidation and getting out of markets.
19. Liaise with management team to resource and undertake research projects (as requested by management or as required by new business opportunities identified), to assess the viability of take overs, expansion etc.
